When the Body Struggles BUT the Spirit Soars

There are times when the body struggles while the spirit soars.

And strangely enough, there are also moments when the spirit feels weary while the body simply continues moving through the motions of daily life.

Both can suffer.

Both can fly.

When Encouragement Becomes Sacred Work

It is during these seasons that encouragement becomes sacred work. One part of us gently lifting the other. One breath carrying us into the next moment. One person reminding another: "You are still here. Keep going."

Maintaining a strategy during difficult seasons is not easy. Whether navigating illness, caregiving, uncertainty, grief, exhaustion, or simply the emotional weight of the world. It takes tremendous effort to remain grounded. Emotionally. Physically. Spiritually.

And yetโ€ฆ people do it every single day.

I see it often in cancer survivors. In caregivers. In firefighters and first responder families. In parents raising children while carrying invisible worry in their own bodies. I see it in students trying to focus while anxiety hums quietly beneath the surface. I see it in people who arrive at yoga or Reiki sessions saying, "I'm tired" but beneath the fatigue there is still a flicker of light that refuses to go out.

That flicker matters.

Tenacity Is Not Always Loud

Sometimes steadfastness looks like getting out of bed. Attending the appointment. Taking the walk. Drinking the water. Asking for help. Laughing for one small moment. Or allowing yourself to rest without guilt.

There is courage in continuing.

What I continue to learn is that healing is rarely about forcing ourselves to "stay positive." It is more often about learning how to hold both realities at once:

the exhaustion and the hope, the fear and the grace, the trembling and the strength.

A both/and existence.

And perhaps that is where the soaring spirit lives. Not in perfection, but in persistence.

Anne passed away this past month. Living 17 years with Early Onset Alzheimers; she is a beautiful spirit that continues to live on within our hearts and memories.

For Whoever Needs This Today

So if your body is struggling right now, may your spirit receive encouragement.

And if your spirit feels weary, may your body find moments of grounding and care.

Little by little, both can become strong again.

Not effortlessly.

But faithfully.

And sometimes, faithfully is more than enough.
