For the past two years, my family has focused on our mother’s wellness. She needed a hip replacement, but when COVID hit, everything got delayed. As her activity level lessened with each and every day, our worries increased. Finally the day arrived and her hip replacement was scheduled and performed. This accompanied much relief. Rotating caregiving roles, each child took turns taking time off with her. This was my particular rotation. During my Fall break, I was able to schedule yet another procedure with her to remove some skin cancer from her face. Her spirits were no longer floundering, however, and my husband and I decided to take advantage of her long ago (almost dormant) acting skills and film her in a Pixar Short-type video. Co-starring with Scrappy the Bug (part Boston Terrier and part Pug), the two were filmed racing their newly acquired racing vehicles. Encouraged toward the finish line through various specific motivators, the two surprisingly finished the race as one!

 Sand Dune Slide

Along the coastline in the central coast lies a town named Morro Bay. Thanksgiving, 2019 (just 3 months prior to pandemic shutdown) our family gathered at my mother’s table. Our small “United Nations” family decided to release some energy, the following morning, after a full day of noshing, we all decided to run down Morro Dunes Natural Preserve in Los Osos, California.
